Reports from passers-by and local residents also describe how, at night, ghostly flashes of light, mournful cries and, occasionally, eerie laughter can be heard emanating from the castle. Although there is no scientific evidence for these phenomena, they have shaped regional folklore and placed the Castello on the list of Sicily’s most haunted places.
